The Durga Ashtakam is a devotional hymn consisting of eight verses (ashtakam = eight) dedicated to Goddess Durga. It is traditionally chanted to seek her blessings for strength, courage, and protection from difficulties. The verses describe Maa Durga’s divine qualities, her power to remove sorrows, and her role as the destroyer of evil and protector of devotees.
Each verse glorifies Durga Mata as the source of power (Shakti) and remover of sins and fears. Chanting is especially powerful during Navratri or on Fridays, but can be done daily. It brings peace of mind, protection from negative energies, and inner strength.
